Our objectives.

Canopy Energy was born in 2008 and started by developing solar power plants. Our rising awareness of the climate crisis has led us to transform our activities. Today, our mission focuses on the following two objectives:

  • To produce carbon-free energy: the ecological transition cannot take place without an alternative to the consumption of non-renewable energy.

  • To develop carbon offset projects: carbon offset projects are verified activities of environmental conservation, energy efficiency or renewable energy. Their aim is to reduce, avoid, or remove greenhouse gas emissions from the atmosphere, hence contributing to the mitigation of climate change. These projects can either be sequestration projects, or avoided emissions projects.

All of our projects are located in developing countries, and mainly in rural areas. Most people we meet live in underdeveloped and underprivileged areas. We wish for our projects to benefit these local populations, by creating jobs and addressing the Sustainable Development Goals of the United Nations.

Canopy Energies invests and develops low-carbon and carbon-free projects, such as biofuel production from Pongamia oil, recycling of waste from logging operations into wood pellets...

Canopy Energies develops Avoided Emissions Projects that rely on the improvement of energy efficiency (distribution of improved cookstoves, rehabilitation of boreholes), and Sequestration Projects (reforestation, afforestation, forest conservation).

We support companies in the implementation of their “low carbon” strategy. Among other servicies, Canopy can manage your portfolio of carbon credits.
